WPS appointed to deliver new responsive maintenance contract for Winchester City Council
WPS is set to deliver a new four-year programme of responsive repairs and void property maintenance for more than 5,500 homes in Winchester City Council’s (WCC) social housing portfolio.
Beginning in August, and with a total value of £24 million over the initial four-year term, the contract is a key part of the newly approved Council Plan that prioritises WCC’s goal to ‘go greener faster’ and ensure good homes for all. Working closely with the Council, WPS will ensure that residents have safe and healthy homes by implementing reliable and efficient preventative maintenance measures and using property data to deliver value for money and reduce repairs needed.
WPS will also ensure that the Council is compliant with Awaab’s Law and the Social Housing Regulations Act 2023 by providing solutions to support a more proactive repairs service. The use of a dynamic scheduling algorithm will optimise delivery by ensuring that operatives are located strategically according to repair demand across Winchester and are able to attend to jobs quickly.

Providing a fully integrated service model, WPS will combine day-to-day repairs with planned and cyclical maintenance for 5,570 properties, including 2,250 flats, 74 maisonettes, 835 bungalows, 2,287 houses, and 124 bedsits. The partnership will enhance the local economy to the value of £1.15m per year by investing in local businesses, providing employment for local people and offering training and development opportunities within the community.
