Project at a glance

The Wellcome Genome Campus (WGC) is a world-leading centre for genomics and biodata research, where ground-breaking science changes lives every day. To ensure smooth operations, WGC relies on building services that are not only highly dependable but also meet enhanced standards.

Since 2021, we have partnered with WGC, working side by side to deliver hard facilities management and specialist projects that keep the busy and complex campus running, allowing vital research to continue without interruption.
A collaborative partnership from the outset.

Since the partnership began it has been truly collaborative.

Together, we redesigned a new way of working, which has made a lasting difference to the way the campus is managed:

• Quick responses to problems have improved, with over 90% of issues sorted rapidly.
• Planned Preventative Maintenance is now 99% compliant, meaning the campus is well looked after.
• The introduction of a Building Ownership Model means there’s always someone to talk to, making communication clearer and faster.
• Using data to guide teams ensures the right people are in the right place at the right time, keeping everything running smoothly.
• Consulting openly and helping people move to new roles made the transition to a new structure smooth and people focused.

These new ways of working created a customer focused FM function that supports WGC’s vital research mission.
Championing sustainability and innovation.

We share a vision for a greener future. Through the Wates Innovation Network, we are finding new ways to cut carbon emissions, use energy more wisely, and help WGC reach its sustainability goals.

A true partnership built on trust

Together we have created a facilities management model that protects crucial research spaces and prepares the campus for the future. This partnership truly reflects our purpose: trusted to look after the places that matter, so people, science, and communities can thrive.
