Over four years, we worked in close partnership with a major public sector customer to deliver a pioneering ESG Strategy that improved building performance, reduced carbon, and created real social value.
Innovative energy savings
Using the Wates Innovation Network (WIN) Portal, we introduced sustainable technologies including an Energy Management System (EMS) across eight buildings. By making energy data visible and actionable, the programme optimised plant performance, reduced energy waste, and delivered £650,000 in savings alongside significant carbon reductions.
Community focus
The strategy also focused on people and communities, supporting local jobseekers through a six-month Kickstart programme and promoting inclusion with 33% of the contract team from BAME backgrounds.
Sustainability efforts recognised
The success of the ESG Strategy exceeded performance targets and was recognised when we were named Best Sustainability Supplier of the Year at the customer’s annual Supplier Conference.
