WPS has been appointed by Castle Point Borough Council to deliver a new five‑year programme of responsive repairs and planned maintenance for the Council’s social housing portfolio, following a competitive procurement process.

With a total value of £35 million over the initial five‑year term, the contract forms a central pillar of the Council’s newly approved, multi‑year capital investment strategy – it’s largest to date.

Providing a fully integrated service model, WPS will combine day‑to‑day repairs with planned and cyclical maintenance for over 1000 properties as well as public buildings, leisure facilities and commercial buildings in south Essex. Further supporting the Council’s major improvement programme, WPS will deploy the scale, supply‑chain resilience and technical capability developed from supporting nearly one in seven social homes across the UK. The programme will also support the enhancement of the local economy by employing local skilled labour and offering training and development opportunities to young and disadvantaged people.

This partnership brings together Castle Point Borough Council’s clear ambition to improve and modernise its housing service and WPS’ ability to deliver consistent, high‑quality results at scale. We put resident wellbeing and service dependability at the centre of our work, ensuring that every home benefits from the same rigour, care and attention. We look forward to delivering a service that supports safe, well‑maintained and thriving communities across the borough.”

James Gregg

Regional Managing Director, WPS

This new contract marks an important step in strengthening the service for our residents. WPS brings the experience and capacity needed to deliver day to day repairs effectively; while also supporting the largest investment programme we have ever undertaken to improve our homes. Castle Point tenants deserve safe, well-maintained housing and this contract helps us deliver exactly that.”

Councillor Rob Lillis

The mobilisation programme between WPS and the Council is already underway, ensuring a smooth transition and uninterrupted service when the contract commences on 1 April 2026.
