WPS teams transform Birmingham nursery
As part of Community and Conservation Month 2026, WPS and Liberty colleagues supported improvements to the outdoor learning space at Kids Place Nursery in Birmingham, creating a more inclusive environment for outdoor learning and play.
Completed over four days, the transformation saw volunteers come together to breathe new life into the nursery’s outdoor garden, creating a safer, more engaging and inclusive space for children to learn, play and develop.
The nursery supports a diverse group of children, including many with special educational needs (SEN) and those who are new to the UK. Recognising the important role that outdoor environments play in early years development, colleagues focused on improving both the functionality and accessibility of the space.
The project included essential repairs alongside the installation of new play and learning features designed to encourage exploration, physical activity and outdoor education. The result is a welcoming environment that supports children’s wellbeing, confidence and developmental growth.
The opening event provided an opportunity to celebrate the collective effort that made the transformation possible. Seeing children and staff enjoying the new facilities highlighted the positive impact that collaborative community initiatives can have on local organisations and the communities they support.
It was fantastic to attend the grand opening and see the difference this project has made. By working together, our WPS and Liberty colleagues have helped create a more inclusive and welcoming outdoor space where children can learn, play and develop with confidence.
