With a strong commitment to excellence, James expertly leads large-scale housing maintenance and facilities management programmes across both social housing and private sector corporate environments, balancing performance, partnership and long-term value.

As the Business Growth Director and a member of the WPS Board, he has a strong belief that the built environment has a critical role to play in improving lives – and that long-term success comes from how work is delivered.

A long-spanning career at Wates has seen James work across new build, housing, fit-out, facilities management and housing maintenance – building a holistic understanding of how complex property services programmes come together. Having previously led planned maintenance across the South region through a period of sustained performance, he moved into the role of Business Growth Director in 2026, where he is focused on strengthening customer partnerships and supporting long-term, responsible growth..

James is particularly motivated by the challenge of delivering essential services at scale while maintaining quality, trust and social value. His leadership style is grounded in collaboration – with customers, supply chain partners and teams – and in developing inclusive, high-performing cultures that support sustainable outcomes for communities and clients alike.
